2017 High Quality Poultry Science Award

Objective – To award three recently graduated Master’s or Doctoral students with a presentation of their research at the 2017 MSD AH High Quality Poultry meetings, with one award given per region.


• Candidate defended Master’s or Doctoral degree in the past 12 months

• Master’s or Doctoral research was an applied project in either Veterinary or Animal Science, with emphasis on Poultry

• Topics of Interest:

o Infectious diseases such as IB, ND, IBD, ILT, REO, Salmonella, Campylobacter

o Red Mite control

o Welfare

o Hatchery

o Antibiotic Reduction

o Environmental Impact

• Candidate needs to be available the following dates:

o May 2017 – Europe (Prague, Czech Republic)

o June 2017 – Americas (Brazil)

o Oct 2017 – Asia (TBD)


• One student per respective region will present research in Asia, Europe or the Americas at an MSD AH High Quality Poultry meeting

• All trip expenses and Honorarium will be paid.

Benefits for award recipient

• Exposure of research to a large global audience of Poultry industry specialists, in addition to attending a regional class poultry scientific congress

• Positive publicity for the award recipient in global poultry news media

Application Requirements

• Submit a 300 word summary of research project (abstract format)

• Justification letter, no longer than 300 words, that describes why you deserve this award including: how your work/project can contribute to the improvement of the poultry industry


• Submission deadline 20 March 2017 to hqpoultryscienceaward@merck.com

All applications will be reviewed by the MSD AH Global and Regional Technical teams.

The Award Recipient will be notified by 15 April 2017. One student per respective region will present his/her research in Asia, Europe and the Americas at an MSD AH High Quality Poultry meeting.
